Race Report – Round 3: Dobrany, Czech Republic

2025 4X ProTour Round 3 – Dobrany, Czech Republic

The 2025 4X ProTour moved on to Dobrany in Czech Republic on Saturday night for round 3. This incredible track is the home of pro rider Tomas Brozik and it’s fair to say the track represents the current style of 4X tracks. Massive jumps, high speed and a real shot in the arm for the sport. Whilst hardtails are extremely rare now, trail bikes are pushing the speed and style of the tracks.

The weekend started on Friday with the first practice session. A longer than normal session of 2 hours gave the riders plenty of time to master one of the best 4X tracks in the World. The track was in perfect condition. A small shower of rain before practice made the track perfect. The riders were sectioning the track and mastering the conditions. The talking point was the new step down out of turn 1 and the new 30 foot double after that. A great section that brought out plenty of style.

Saturday – Qualifying:

Saturday rolled around and with it came the predicted rain. Storms all morning soaked the track and would make riding tough. The organisers decided to delay the whole schedule to try and allow the rain to pass. 15.30 was the new practice time. Riders now had an hour to get the track dialled before qualifying. Those who had spikes were smiling. Those who had trail tyres were nervous!

Qualifying started with the women. 4X ProTour star Katherine Oldfield pulled the pin in her final laps of practice and jumped the huge doubles lower down on the track. She did it again in her qualifying and it was enough to take the fastest time ahead of Katie Roach, Lily McCoy and Elena Schnele.

Next up were the men. There were plenty of locals who were looking fast and one by one they pushed the limits to try and qualify. Seeding order was randomised and the first contender to go was Scott Beaumont. He was the first rider to hit the 30 foot doubles and crossed the line in the hot seat. Ian Forsyth then went even quicker to set a new benchmark. Current 4X ProTour points leader Tomas Slavik then went fastest before name sake Hannes Slavik almost toppled Tomas and moved into 2nd.

1st – Tomas Slavik: 50.04

2nd – Hannes Slavik: 50.25

3rd – Ian Forsyth: 50.63

4th – Scott Beaumont: 51.76

Saturday – Race:

After qualifying there was 30 minutes for riders to jet wash their bikes and get ready for the racing.

The early heats of racing were action packed as riders were fighting to qualify for the quarter finals.

In the quarter finals the cream began to rise to the top. The top 4 qualifiers were flying and everything was looking good for some amazing semi finals.

In semi final 1 it was Tomas Slavik, Scott Beaumont, Jachym Vanek and Dave Richardson. The gate dropped and it was tight into turn 1. Beaumont then dived inside and slotted into 2nd behind Slavik. Vanek then made his move on Beaumont but cam up short and it was Slavik and Beaumont moving through to the final.

In semi final 2 Hannes Slavik battled through turn 1 with Ian Forsyth, until Gustaw Dadela made a move and come out in the lead with Tomas Brozik close behind them. Slavik then dived inside on the huge 180 degree corner and there was contact between him and Forsyth. Both went down allowing Dadela and hometown hero Tomas Brozik into the final. The crowd went wild as Brozik booked his place in the final.

Finals:

In the men’s small final the gate dropped and Hannes Slavik took the holeshot. But in the move of the weekend, Dave Richardson had spotted a small ledge next to the first turn flag. He rode into turn 1 in 4th and came out joint lead. The crowd went wild and it almost worked, but he ran wide on the exit and was unable to jump the 30 foot double jump. Hannes Slavik took the lead ahead of Ian Forsyth and Jachym Vanek. It was a shame for Richardson because the move almost worked, but it wasn’t to be. The positions held to finish and Hannes Slavik took 5th overall for the day.

Elite women were next up. Katherine Oldfield dominated the day and in the final it was no different. She made a great start and took the win from start to finish. Katie Roach rode drastic all day and took a deserved 2nd with 4X ProTour rookie Lily McCoy in 3rd ahead of Elena Schnele. In tough conditions the women had a great final but the positions held all the way down.

The last race was the mens final.

Tomas Slavik took gate 1, Scott Beaumont went for 4, Gustaw Dadela then went 3 and Tomas Brozik on 2. The gate dropped and it was super close down the first straight between the Slavik and Beaumont. Beaumont went for the outside drive and it almost worked until Brozik came siding in – speedway style to stop the run. Slavik got away. Beaumont regrouped and was able to hold 2nd. Setting off after Slavik, Beaumont closed the gap to just a bike length, until a mistake on the penultimate straight lost his moment. Slavik took the win from Beaumont with Dadela holding on for 3rd ahead of Brozik.
