4X ProTour 2022 Preview – Fort William

Year after year, Fort William 4X provides action and drama to the thousands of spectators lining the track on Aonach Mor and showcases 4X at its absolute best. It never, ever, lets us down. After the last few years, we are more happy than ever before to welcome 4X back to Fort William for the first round of the 2022 series.

In addition, 4X ProTour are celebrating their 10 year anniversary in 2022 and we are proud the host the opening round for these celebrations in Scotland.

Winding its way through the trees from the start, riders burst into view of the finish arena by joining the last one hundred metres of the DH track. With rollers, huge jumps, rocks, drops, flat turns and berms, this track has it all to challenge the absolute best 4X riders in the World. It is always interesting to see how these riders smooth out this rough and tough track, especially when battling with three other riders.

This is the event on the 4X ProTour that riders want to win. It is viewed by the riders as the platinum event in the calendar and everyone wants to win here. Winners this weekend will add their name to an incredible list of former champions in the 4X world who have won on this track.

In the women’s racing, 2021 4X World Champion Michaela Hajkova from Czech Republic will be the favourite. She certainly will not have it all her own way though. Helene Fruwirth from Austria is coming out of 4X retirement to try and win in Fort William again. There will be plenty to cheer about if you are a British fan. Look for National Champion Martha Gill to be flying over all the jumps and will likely will land on the podium as will National Series Champion Josie McFall. Watch out for rising stars Katherine Bing and Sophie Cade to make a big impression here.

In the men’s race, the sparks are set to fly again with the old guard all aiming to take this win. Can anyone stop them? The current top 4 riders in the World; World Champion Tomas Slavik, 4X ProTour Champion Mikulas Nevrkla, Hannes Slavik and Scott Beaumont will all be present and will all be notoriously fast on this track. Throw into the mix the likes of British riders Will Evans, Duncan Ferris, Charlie Currie, Elliot Heap and Zac Hudson who will lead the charge and it has the perfect ingredients for an action-packed evening of racing.

Qualifying will take place Friday night and the race will be late on Saturday afternoon after DH qualifying. Fort William will be the place to be on May 20th/21st.

Predicting race winners, passing moves or what will happen in a 4X race is a very brave game! With the riders who are signed on to race this year we invite you to place your bets at your own risk!

See you all trackside.
